Setting
Pecan Peak Ranch is located on the Pecan Bayou
River near Zephyr, TX. Zephyr is a tiny town in
Central Texas that was destroyed in 1909 by
Zephyr Cyclone that manifested in a massive
tornado that killed 20 people. Zephyr has since
been rebuilt but there still isn't much to it.
Down on the Ranch we enjoy beautiful vistas from
Red Peak down into the river bottom and wheat
fields. Also notable from Red Peak are views for
as far as the eye can see to the west and thus
making it an ideal location to enjoy sunsets.
Red Peak, which is so named for bright red dirt
that shines prominently in the cliff just below its
edge, was once used for target practice by US
Army tanks and mortars. This land was part of
the historically vast expanse of Camp Bowie
which is now limited to a much smaller area. We
regularly find shrapnel and mortar caps around
Red Peak.
Mission
Our mission is to properly manage and utilize this
urban acreage in a way that preserves its God
given beauty while generating a modest harvest
bounty as well as a rich reward of entertainment,
companionship and learning.
Product
We have been providing Black Angus beef to
the US meat market since 2001. The ranch
also has a very productive 50 acres of wheat
fields in cultivation as well as 30 acres in
coastal hay. We have a small pecan orchard
that has not attained production to date. In
2006 we began building a herd of registered
Texas Longhorn Cattle. We also plan to begin
an apiary in 2009.

PPR Brand
The brand is comprised of two simple symbols, "^" and "~", stacked on top of each other. The
house-top symbol symbolizes Red Peak which is a major defining point on the ranch. The
squiggly line represents the Pecan Bayou River which marks the western boundary of the ranch.

You can see Red Peak in the background at the end of the ridge that comes in from
the left. The Pecan Bayou River is off in the distant horizon below Red Peak.
We became interested in Blue Lacy Dogs because we needed help moving stubborn cows. We had a guy almost killed by an ornery cow (#42). Well at least us city-boys
thought that he was dead. But we learned that these wiry hillbilly boys are a little tougher than us when he got up and shrugged it off. In any case 42 had to go.
So I called my neighbor with a Border Collie and he came to my aid but that Collie couldn't get near #42. So basically I went looking for a sporting dog that is as smart
as a Border Collie and gritty enough to lay down the law and good with the family too. Hmmm, where might that lead me???
Today Pecan Peak Ranch is dedicated to breeding the finest Blue Lacy Dogs possible and matching them with the most suitable families and homes where the dogs can
excel as the valuable members of our society that they once were here in Texas.
If you have never looked into the eyes of a Blue Lacy then you are missing out. They can steal your heart. Expect great things to come from this breed and the dogs
that we produce.

Thank you for stopping by our Ranch-Site. Hope you appreciate what you see. I know that I do. This is
what my recreational life is all about. We call Livin' here at Pecan Peak Ranch. I've got my shotgun in my
right arm, my dog Jessie in my left and a smile of satisfaction.
Life is a battle with multiple fronts. It seems overwhelming at times but remember that God gives us what we
can handle. So step up! Stop making excuses and passing blame. Attack on all fronts because life rewards
action!
Ranching is every bit as important to me as closing a big deal or gaining social popularity or whatever. In fact
I see them the same. Everything that I do at the ranch hones my skills for the fights back home in Dallas and
rest of the rat race.
The essence of a person's character can be read like an open book through their trials in the field. If I can
lure quarry into position over my spread of decoys, leverage the power of my firearm and manage a canine
partner to locate and recover downed game then I can surely locate business opportunities, develop a sales
strategy for a successful deal and manage a team of people to closure. Inside the anatomy of man's being,
these activities are the same.
We are primal beasts put here by God to play out roles that only he can fully understand. I believe that he
gave us life to be lived and not to be sheepishly managed in judgement of others. We are human. The most
evolved of Earth's creatures.
And when we are gone let us long for nothing and rest in peace knowing that we swung for the fence each and
every day in each and every way. On this day in this self portrait I can see in my own eyes that I have
accomplished this simple goal and will continue to do so for all the remaining days with which I am blessed.

This is my
house...
The deck beneath me was constructed by my
father Darrell in '03 with the help of some day
labor and some friend labor largely provided by
Mr. Ken Cady. Since construction it has been
marked repeatedly by a tradition of branding iron
graffiti.
